SAFETY TIP
A healthy lifestyle comes down to a few daily habits that support long‑term physical and mental well‑being.
- Eat a balanced diet — Emphasize vegetables, fruits, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats while limiting added sugars, sodium, and ultra‑processed foods.
- Stay physically active — Aim for 150 minutes of moderate activity per week plus muscle‑strengthening twice weekly. Even small bursts of movement count.
- Get enough sleep — Adults benefit from 7–9 hours nightly; good sleep improves weight control, stress, and heart health.
- Manage stress effectively — Techniques like breathing exercises, mindfulness, hobbies, and social connection reduce disease risk.
- Stay hydrated — Proper hydration supports digestion, cognition, and energy. During the summer heat be sure to hydrate before, during and after work.
- Avoid tobacco and limit alcohol — Not smoking and moderating alcohol intake significantly lowers chronic disease risk.
- Keep up with preventive care — Routine checkups, vaccines, dental care, and screenings catch issues early.
