VMW Spirit Award Winners 4th Quarter 2024

This award highlights five nominations that best exemplify each of the core values.

Build Trust – Stacie Madrigal (San Antonio)
Stacie has consistently demonstrated professionalism and teamwork through her commitment to training and guidance. By creating tailored resources and training guides, she has provided invaluable support to her fellow team members, fostering trust and collaboration. Her efforts have empowered others to excel in their roles, contributing to the delivery of the absolute best construction experience.

Be Professional â€“ Cedric Gartman (Austin)
The exterior skin of the West Lake Hills New Municipal Complex project is unique with many details and transitions. After the project’s final drawings were reviewed by the waterproofing consultant and approved, Cedric brought together all exterior subcontractors to highlight every note on the exterior details with a specific color, e.g. glass = blue. This exercise confirmed all scopes were covered in the subcontracts, ensured everyone understood who was doing what and eliminated confusion prior to starting work.

Live Teamwork – Eloy Andrade (San Antonio)
Eloy demonstrated exceptional teamwork and leadership by stepping in during a superintendent’s absence to ensure a project stayed on schedule. He
worked extended hours, managed all communication with our client and built a strong relationship that earned their praise. Shortly after completion of that
project, Eloy supported another superintendent recovering from surgery by leading critical meetings, presenting detailed plans, addressing our client’s
concerns and painting a picture of next steps that would be taken to meet the project’s deadline.

Be Passionate – Cami Alling (Austin)
Cami demonstrated her passion for creative problemsolving when the SpawGlass-Austin team faced a challenge during an important project interview. With both the project manager and superintendent unable
to attend the interview due to extenuating circumstances, Cami came up with the idea of bringing life-size cardboard cutouts of them in their
place. This inventive solution showcased the team’s ability to think outside the box, impressing the client and ultimately assisting in winning the project.

Think Like an Owner – Johnny Escobedo, Gilbert Hernandez, Pearson Randel, Mike Vaughn (North Texas)
To energize the new panels installed at the University of Dallas Haggar Renovation project, several safety items had to be identified and verified before the work could be performed. In the spirit of thinking like owners, the
project team ensured everything was in place prior to shutting off power to two full buildings on the active campus overnight, including required training
documentation, arc flash suits and proper testers. The team also coordinated activities with campus police to guarantee safety of the students and full-time fire watch while the power shutdown was active.
