VMW Spirit Award Winners 1st Quarter 2025

This award highlights five nominations that best exemplify each of the core values.

Build Trust Kelsey Tipton and Tonya Motl (Houston)

While performing owner training related to our Brazoria County Courthouse Campus Expansion project, Kelsey learned that a local officer had recently lost his life in the line of duty. Recognizing the emotional impact on the Sheriff’s department, Kelsey and Tonya delivered flowers and cookies to the team on behalf of SpawGlass, including a heartfelt message expressing condolences. The Sheriff’s team was deeply moved, sharing that after years of working together, our team had truly become part of the community.

Be Professional Armando Flores, Jose M. Garcia, CJ Legarta, Lennie Munson, Carlos Villegas (San Antonio Civil); Maurice “Moe” Pruitt (Houston Civil)

As the San Antonio Civil team worked on the final details to achieve substantial completion of a taxiway rehabilitation project at San Antonio International Airport, unexpected weather created significant scheduling challenges. The team, along with Moe Pruitt from Houston Civil, worked the entire weekend to turn over the taxiway to the airport just in time for an influx of activity before the NCAA Men’s Final Four.

Live Teamwork Ryan Syring (Austin)

When the North Texas team began preparing a proposal for a new student housing project, they enlisted help from teams working on similar student housing projects around the company. Ryan, one of our higher education market experts, stepped up to participate in an advisory capacity, offering guidance during the proposal development process. Ryan then traveled to North Texas immediately following another project interview in the Austin area to support the North Texas team on the interview portion of their pursuit. His willingness to go above and beyond for both regions illustrates what it truly means to live teamwork.

Be Passionate Cody James (Houston)

When a family situation caused one of our superintendents to have to relocate, Cody stepped in to finish a project that was approaching substantial completion. One of our subcontractors on the project was failing to meet deadlines to complete the programming required for our permit. With commissioning scheduled for the next day, the subcontractor stated they would have their work completed by 9:00 p.m. When that did not occur, Cody drove nearly two hours to return to the jobsite to relieve another team member and stayed onsite until 3:00 a.m. Although Cody has only been on the project a short time, he has jumped in as a strong leader and continuously goes above and beyond to push the project across the finish line.

Think Like an Owner Nicole Saenz

Nicole exemplifies what it means to think like an owner by proactively protecting and strengthening our company’s financial well-being. She works closely with project teams across all regions of SpawGlass, diligently evaluating subcontractor qualifications and financials for our Subcontractor Default Insurance (SDI) program. Nicole’s dedication and expertise in mitigating risk directly contribute to our long-term success, protecting SpawGlass and reinforcing our financial stability.
