Construction Update 06/18/2025
Owner: The University of Texas at Dallas
Owner’s Representative: Project Control
Architect: Perkins + Will
From underground utility work to rooftop placements, our team at the new Student Success Center + Student Union is moving full steam ahead!
Â
Crews have wrapped up excavation and installed the soil retention system for the new utility tunnel. This major step sets the stage for connecting the building to the campus-wide utility system.
Â
Next up: waterproofing. Underground MEP work will kick off this week to prep the tunnel for slab-on-grade (SOG) placement, followed by construction of the tunnel walls and lid.

Up above, the first section of the Level 5 roof has been placed, and the concrete structure will continue rising over the next few weeks until we reach topping out. Over on the east side, where the future ballroom will be, the concrete structure is now complete.
Inside the building, overhead work is well underway in the basement and Level 1, and we’re now making progress on Level 2. Steel installation has started in the basement and is set to begin this week on the northeast cantilever. Meanwhile, CMU work is rolling along in the basement with about four weeks to go.
We’re excited to keep building momentum and bring this dynamic space to life—stay tuned for more updates!
