SpawGlass to Cast for a Cause at 21st Annual Bay Fishing Tournament on South Padre Island
FULTON, Texas (Aug. 7-8, 2026) — More than 68 boats, hundreds of anglers and supporters, and the legacy of a beloved SpawGlass employee will come together Friday, Aug. 7 through Saturday, July 8 for the 13th Annual CJ Strnadel IV Memorial Fishing Tournament at the Fulton Convention Center.
Â
The tournament honors CJ Strnadel IV, a SpawGlass employee who died in a tragic automobile accident. Family, friends and coworkers established the annual event to celebrate CJ’s life while supporting organizations that help others heal and preserve Texas’ coastal resources.
Â
Proceeds from this year’s tournament will benefit Bo’s Place, a Houston-based nonprofit bereavement center that provides free grief support services for children, families and adults, and the Coastal Conservation Association (CCA), which works to conserve and restore Texas coastal marine resources. Since the tournament began, participants have raised more than $412,000 for Bo’s Place, more than $35,000 for CCA and thousands of additional dollars for other nonprofit organizations throughout the Coastal Bend and Greater Houston communities, creating a lasting legacy that honors CJ Strnadel IV through service and philanthropy.
Â
For 13 years, the tournament has transformed tragedy into hope by honoring CJ Strnadel IV’s memory while raising funds that help grieving children and families receive compassionate support through Bo’s Place. At the same time, the event supports the long-term health of Texas coastal waters through the Coastal Conservation Association, creating a lasting legacy that reflects CJ’s love of family, friends, and the outdoors.
